Thinking About Interior Design Trends for 2022
It feels like just yesterday we were talking about the interior design trends we expected to see in 2021. With a new year already well underway, we thought it’d be fun to share some of the trends we’ve already begun to see and those we’re anticipating in the coming months.
Dual-Purpose Rooms
As has been the case for the last two years, our clients continue to spend lots of time at home and desire a space that’s not only beautiful and comfortable, but one that functions for a new way of living. With travel and houseguests still infrequent for many, we’ve seen people swapping traditional guest rooms for home offices with a daybed or sleeper sofa. We’ve seen kid hangouts become more multi-purpose with the addition of home gyms and in-home theaters. Overall, we are seeing clients utilizing more of their spaces on a daily basis and wanting adaptable, evolving rooms that can serve more than a single purpose.
Having Fun with Art
We’ve always been crazy about art and the personality and color it brings to a space. We predict that more people will embrace bold color and impactful art in their homes this year.
Travel-Inspired Accents
While real-world travel may still be on hold for some, many are embracing travel-inspired designs in their home through unique art, textured and layered fabrics, and one-of-a-kind accent furnishings.
Vintage and Antiques
With manufacturing and shipping delays still affecting the design world, more people are incorporating antique or vintage pieces into their spaces or finding ways to repurpose what they have with reupholstering, painting, and refinishing.
