Designing Children’s Rooms That Last

Getting to design a space for the youngest members of a family – whether a nursery, a playroom, or a teen lounge – is one of the most rewarding parts of our job. We love when our clients involve their kids in the design process so we can hear firsthand what they like, how they spend their time, and what special touches they hope to see in their finished space. Our goal is always to create a room that feels representative of the child and their interests while feeling timeless enough to last for many years. We accomplish this by following a few simple guidelines:

Creating A Timeless Foundation
We design a room that will grow with your child through various ages and stages by creating a base layer of quality furnishings in timeless styles and colors. When choosing big ticket items like beds, dressers, and flooring — opt for classic finishes that won’t go out of style.

Incorporating Hobbies and Interests Thoughtfully
Because children change their minds – and their interests – frequently as they grow, it’s best to incorporate those elements through easier-to-update accessories, art, and textiles.

Containing the Clutter
In addition to feeling fun and youthful, a child’s room should be restful. We try to combat the clutter and toy chaos by implementing simple storage solutions that make it easy for kids to pick up after themselves. If everything has a place, maintaining a peaceful, organized space is much easier.
